Ratguard SonicArmor X - Ultrasound Rat Repellent for Car
Frequently Asked Questions
In the engine bay only. It connects directly to the battery terminals - it is a non-invasive accessory and does not tap into the ECU, sensors or existing wiring. Clean the engine bay before fitting, as nesting material and food debris left behind will keep attracting rodents.
No. It draws under 5W, which is negligible against a normal car battery. If your vehicle is left standing unused for several weeks at a time, treat it as you would any always-on accessory and check the battery condition, since a weak or ageing battery will drain regardless.
It should not. The device connects only to the battery terminals and does not interfere with the ECU, sensors or factory wiring. That said, warranty terms vary between manufacturers, so confirm with your dealer if you want certainty. If the device is fitted by a third-party mechanic or electrician, any wiring or fitting error on their part is outside our liability.
Yes. It is built for engine-bay conditions and rated for water and heat resistance, so it handles rain, splashes and normal engine heat. It is not designed to be submerged.
It reduces rodent activity - it is not an extermination product, and no ultrasound device can guarantee 100% prevention in every situation. How well it works depends on the level of infestation, food sources nearby, open entry points, hygiene and how the unit is placed. Treat it as part of your overall rodent control alongside sealing entry points and removing food sources, not as a replacement for them. We say the same thing in our Legal Notice, and we would rather set this expectation before you buy than after.
The device works from the moment it is powered, with noticeable change in activity typically within 2-4 days. If rats are already nesting in the engine bay, clean it out thoroughly before fitting - the ultrasound output and UV pulse discourage rodents from returning, but they will not remove existing nesting material or the smell that attracts them back.
It works with any 12V battery vehicle - cars, SUVs, jeeps and trucks. For larger vehicles or machinery with a big engine compartment, more than one unit gives better coverage.
No. It is electromagnetically safe and does not interfere with the ECU, sensors or any vehicle electronics. The ultrasound output is silent to people and the UV light pulses gently rather than flashing.
