Ratguard MINI - Ultrasound Rat Repellent for Small Commercial Spaces
Frequently Asked Questions
It emits high-frequency ultrasound sound in the 22-65 kHz range. Rats and mice hear it clearly and find the environment uncomfortable, so they move away from the area. It is silent to people, uses no chemicals and needs no refills - just plug it into a standard socket and leave it running.
One MINI covers up to 1,500 sq ft in an open area - roughly one room or section. ultrasound sound does not pass through walls, floors or closed doors, so a separate unit is needed for each enclosed space you want to protect. For anything larger than a single room, use the multi-unit packs above.
It reduces rodent activity - it is not an extermination product, and no ultrasound device can guarantee 100% prevention in every situation. How well it works depends on the level of infestation, food sources nearby, open entry points, hygiene and how the unit is placed. Treat it as part of your overall rodent control alongside sealing entry points and removing food sources, not as a replacement for them. We say the same thing in our Legal Notice, and we would rather set this expectation before you buy than after.
Most customers notice reduced activity within 7-10 days. In heavier infestations, or where food and nesting material are still available, it can take 3-4 weeks. Keep the unit powered continuously - switching it off and on lets rodents settle back in.
Plug it in 1-1.5 metres above floor level, facing the open area you want to protect, with nothing blocking the front of the device. Soft furnishings, stacked cartons and shelving absorb ultrasound sound, so keep the path clear. Avoid tucking it behind machinery or inside a cupboard.
Yes. The ultrasound frequency is outside the human hearing range and is safe for people, dogs and cats. There are no chemicals, poisons or traps involved. If you keep small pet rodents such as hamsters, guinea pigs or rabbits, do not use it in the same room - they hear the same frequencies rats do.
